Sport

The students at St. Joseph's love their sport! Each grade from Prep- 6 participates in a weekly specialist sports lesson, taught by a specialist teacher. Each class also has an additional weekly sports lesson with their classroom teacher.

Athletic's Carnival
Each year we have a sporting carnival where all students, from youngest to oldest, participate in track and field events.

Swimming Carnival
Early in Term 1, we hold our annual swimming carnival for Grade 3 to Grade 6 students.

Swimming & Water Safety
Students from Prep – Grade Four participate in a two-week intensive ‘Learn to Swim’ program in Semester One. Year Five & Six students participate in a water safety program. The students in Grade 3-6 participate in Inter-School District Swimming Carnival in Term 1. In 2018, St. Joseph's won the percentage trophy at this event.

Netball Club
St. Joseph's has a number of extracurricular netball teams, run by a group of parents. This is open to all students from Grade 2 to Grade 6, and the teams participate in a local league. Training is before and after school, and sometimes at the weekend.

Interschool Sports
St. Joseph’s is a member of the South-Central Catholic Sports Association and the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association. Students in the senior school participate in district cross country, swimming and athletic carnivals and weekly Interschool sport. Being affiliated with the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association enables children to represent their state in National competitions.

Each Friday afternoon during Terms 2 and 3, all Grade 5 and 6 students participate in the inter-school sports leagues, either in netball or football. This culminates in lightning premiership competitions near the end of Term 3.

Rugby
Each year the senior students from St Joseph's participate in the Dendy District Rugby gala. In the 2018 season both our boys and girls teams took out the trophy from the division competition and headed off to the State Rugby Finals. Very impressive for a small school!

Skipping
Skipping fever has taken over St Joseph's, with the playground a hive of skipping each day. From 2019 Isabelle Freeman will be running a dedicated skipping and competitive teams.

Cricket
Students in Grades 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in T20 Cricket each year, as part of the Dendy District Competition
