The role of the School Advisory Council (SAC) is to offer advice to the Parish Priest, Principal and Deputy Principal in the best interests of the St Joseph’s Parish School Community. The Board also assists and fosters the growth and development of education within the Parish Community of Malvern.
The SAC consists of the Parish Priest, Principal, parents and a staff representative. Members of the Board are appointed by the Principal in consultation with the Board.

Peter Piasente (Chair)
Peter joined the SAC in 2017. Peter and his wife Jade currently have 3 children at St Joseph’s, Clara (Y1), Sophie (Y6) and Luca (Y4). Peter is an accountant by profession with over 20 year’s experience in public practice consulting to various businesses and family groups. He has been a board member of a number of private businesses together with sporting clubs. Peter loves to spend time with his family and enjoys all sports with an avid interest in cycling, surfing, horse racing and football (Carlton).
Trish Reginato (secretary)
Trish joined the SAC in 2019. Trish and her husband Christian have one child at St Joseph’s, Georgia in Grade 4 and have a son, Zach who previously attended St Joseph's. Trish is a general commercial lawyer with risk and governance experience. Trish previously served on the board of the Malvern Early Learning Centre.
Kerry Cockburn
Kerry joined the SAC in 2019. His son Henry is in Grade 3, and he has an older son Hugo at De la Salle. Kerry has a business background and is director of Seneca Textiles Australia. He brings a wealth of business acumen and is committed to supporting the continued success of the SJM school community.
Fr. Alan Gibson
Fr. Alan was born and raised in Sydney. Ordained to the priesthood on 5th August 1995, he has since worked on the Gold Coast, Fiji and Sydney prior to coming to the Malvern parish in late January 2018. Fr. Alan has worked in parishes, teaching church history in the seminary and as a director of students training for the priesthood. Interests apart from the Church are reading, watching movies and following most sports.
David Stegehuis
David joined the SAC in 2019 as the P&F representative. He is the current chair of the St Joseph’s P&F Committee and also served as P&F treasurer until 2018. He has five children, two of whom study at St Joseph’s: Matthius in Prep and Christian in Grade 3. Two of his older children also attended St Joseph’s. David has worked in investment roles in the infrastructure sector for the last 20 years, focusing on renewable energy and PPPs.
Alistair Williams
Alistair joined the PEAB in 2019. He and his wife Jane have one child at St Josephs, Stella in Year 2. They have a son, Jackson who completed Year 6 at St Joseph's at the end of 2019. Alistair has previously been Secretary of the P&F Committee and works in the Utilities industry as a project director.
Laura Piva
Laura joined the PEAB at the beginning of 2020. She has two children attending the school: Ingrid in Year 6 and Alex in Year 4.
Laura has previously served on the committee of management as Secretary and Vice President at a local kindergarten (2011-2016).
She is a self-confessed science geek, particularly interested in encouraging more girls into STEM subjects and pathways.
