Message from the Principal
It was with great pleasure, and enormous pride, that we welcomed two full houses to the St Joseph's performance of Finding Nemo Jr. in November 2023.
The students at St. Joseph’s excel in all things artistic, and Finding Nemo Jr allowed them to celebrate their talents publicly; it was the culmination of many months of hard work and dedication undertaken by our students, staff and the families of our school community.
Our Year 5 and 6 students had the honour of taking the lead roles in our show, ranging from main characters, to sharks, turtles and a dangerous barracuda! The students from Prep to Year 4 all appeared during the show in various ensemble scenes.
I must commend the dedication of all of our senior students, whether they were main characters or members of the ensemble, who worked tirelessly to bring this show to fruition; our Year 5 and 6 students not only focussed on their own scenes but also supported the entire school with choreography- thank you to our senior dancers, how fortunate we are!
A special, and very well-deserved, word of thanks to Ms Edel Cleere. As musical director and co-director, she has given so freely of her time and enthusiasm to our children. We are very fortunate to have such a talent on staff. Thank you Edel!
The support from our school community was astounding and I spent much time marvelling at the generosity of our parents. A special thanks to Karen Redenbach and her dedicated team of costume makers- we cannot thank you enough for your time, commitment, creativity and enthusiasm. To those who have helped in various capacities along the way (from scenery design and construction, donating fabric, graphic design, organising the all-important interval bar) the staff and students of St. Joseph’s send their sincere thanks. We couldn’t have done it without you.
To the St. Joseph’s staff, I sincerely thank you for your tireless commitment during the preparations for Finding Nemo Jr.
And finally, to the most important people- our students: I congratulate you for taking this opportunity to step outside your comfort zone to explore and develop your creativity. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for sharing your obvious joy for the performing arts; what an amazing student community we have.
Michelle Moore (the world’s proudest principal!)
