Thousands of students across Australia recently participated in Tournament of Minds.
This year, 14 students from Years 4-6 represented St Joseph’s at Deakin University in Burwood.
The competition was established to offer students real-world challenges and to help them develop skills that are beneficial in all aspects of life. Students were required to use problem-solving strategies to identify solutions, be creative, work cooperatively, experiment and take risks, share their knowledge and skills, show appreciation of others, use divergent thinking, adopt a spirit of inquiry and so much more.
In addition to completing a six week challenge, each team had 5 minutes to respond to a spontaneous challenge on the day of the competition.
The teachers and parents who attended on the day were very proud of the students' efforts. More importantly, the students themselves should be congratulated for having the courage to nominate themselves for Tournament of Minds and for showing much persistence during the six weeks of the long-term challenge.
Well done to all of you!
